Mafia, also referred to as La Cosa Nostra (Italian: Things We), is a collective call for a secret organization in Sicily and the United States. Mafia originally the name of a confederation of the people in Sicily into the Middle Ages for the purpose of protection and enforcement own law (the law). Confederation is then started doing organized crime. Members of the Mafia called "mafioso", which means "honorable man". Mafia expanded into the United States through immigration in the 20th century. Peak power of the Mafia in the United States in the mid-20th century, until a series of FBI investigations in the 1970s and 1980s, slightly reducing their influence. Despite the fall, the Mafia and its reputation has been embedded in American popular culture, filmed on television and even advertisements.
